The Third International Conference on Press-in Engineering (ICPE2024) 3-5 July 2024, Singapore

OVERVIEW

The press-in piling method is a highly efficient pile installation/extraction method which causes minimum noise and no vibration. It is applicable to a wide variety of substructures which are composed of pre-fabricated piles. Due to the superiority of the method, it has been utilized in many countries. The inaugural Press-in Engineering Conference (ICPE2018) was successfully completed in Kochi, Japan, in September 2018, and the Second Conference (ICPE2021) was also successfully held receiving overwhelming positive feedback. Both of the above conferences attracted several hundred participants. As the press-in piling technique is commonly employed in Singapore and other Southeast Asian countries, Singapore will host the third international conference ICPE2024 from 3 to 5 July 2024

Besides traditional press-in techniques, the latest development is to employ press-in technique in order to achieve carbon neutrality, environmental protection and tackling climate change issues such as protection against rising sea levels. Construction cases of the applications, which have been already constructed, are under construction or under planning, include those in the Netherlands, Egypt, Senegal, Australia, India, and the Philippines etc. As such, the theme of ICPE2024 is ‘Superiority of Press-in Piling towards Sustainable Construction in Tackling Climate Change for Infrastructure Development’. In fact, ICPE2021 already held special sessions on disaster prevention and mediation and this and other related topics relevant to the conference theme will be further expanded in the course of keynote lectures presenting the latest know-how on the topics to be presented in ICPE2024. It is intended that Bulletin 2 of the conference with the details of keynote/invited lectures, conference venue and registration as well as accommodation information will be released by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

The Pakistan Geotechnical Engineering Society (PGES) under the aegis of International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) takes pleasure in hosting 9^th Asian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference and its 15th International Conference on Geotechnical Engineering from December 5-7, 2019 in Lahore, Pakistan.

This conference will be the ninth in its series following the first in Bangkok (1991), the second in Singapore (1994), the third in Singapore (1997), the fourth in Seoul (2001), the fifth in Taipei (2004), the sixth in Bangalore (2008), the seventh in Tokushima (2012) and the eighth in Astana (2016) . This conference aims at providing interactive platform for the young geotechnical engineers from across Asia. Young Geotechnical Engineers and researchers below the age of 35 years (as on December 5, 2019) from Asian countries will participate in this Conference. Each of the National Geotechnical Societies in Asia is invited to nominate two participants from its country to submit research papers in the conference. Best paper prize of $250 shall be awarded to three best research papers.

Innovation and Sustainability in Geotechnics for Developing Africa

Hosted in one of the continent’s most iconic cities, this conference will serve practitioners, academics and students of all geotechnical backgrounds. The conference will offer extensive opportunities for technical committee meetings, workshops, paper presentations, exhibitions and sponsorships. Developments in unsaturated soil mechanics, which are of special relevance in the African context, will feature prominently at the conference. The conference will host the 17th Jennings Lecture presented by world renowned unsaturated soils expert Prof Delwyn Fredlund (Canada). In addition, a course on unsaturated soil mechanics by Prof David Toll, Prof Antonio Gens, Prof Charles Ng and Prof Samuel Ampadu will be presented. 6 October, preceding the African Regional Conference. During the 18th International Conference for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, which was held in Paris (France), bilateral agreements (Memorandums) between Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society (KGS) and US National Society for ISSMGE (Geo-Institute, ASCE) were signed. The agreements outline prospects for cooperation between societies, issues of exchange of experience and knowledge, scientific and normative documentations, training of specialists in the field of geotechnical engineering, and organization of joint geotechnical conferences, seminars, workshops and webinar. In this connection KGS and the ASCE Geo-Institute will organize the First Kazakhstan- USA Geotechnical Engineering Workshop scheduled to take place at the L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana (the new capital of Kazakhstan) from 13-14 July, 2015 and in Almaty (largest city in Kazakhstan) from 15 -16 July.

TRANSPORTATION AND ENERGY GEOTECHNICS
Highways, Railways, Tunneling, Bridges, Wind Energy, Geosynthetics, and Geothermal Energy Systems

Overall Objective of Workshop
Increase interactions between Kazakhstan Geotechnical Society and ASCE Geo-Institute and identify opportunities for future collaborations. The workshop will have a strong industry related component to highlight geotechnical and construction opportunities in Kazakhstan associated with EXPO 2017 in Astana. Practitioners, university faculty, and researchers are all encouraged to participate in the workshop.
